The Cod Nuggets are very very delicious! The outer batter is crispy and thin, so you can taste the amazing light and moist texture of the cod. I would highly recommend this! Deep Fried Oyster were very large and plump. When I bit into them, it was very moist and flavourful! Even a bit of juice started running down my fingers. Highly recommend these as well! Overall, the concept of getting messy with your food is very fun! Continue Reading →
The oysters were surprisingly large yet cooked beautifully, with the batter consistently even and never too thick. Both the cod and oyster meat were exceedingly fresh and you could definitely taste the sea in each bite. Now, 1 pound of shrimp and crawfish may not seem that much on paper but do not be fooled, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this bag. Tearing open the plastic with relish, the perfectly cooked seafood came pouring out onto my plate with a phenomenal aroma. Continue Reading →
The nuggets were delicious. They were not your usual beer batter fried nuggets. The coating was very thin and crunchy and the filling was big chunks of tender cod. These were all about the fish. The cajun fries were crispy and very spicy. I loved them but definitely had to slow down my eating to give my tastebuds some recovery time. They reminded me of cinnamon heart candy… so spicy but you just can’t stop eating them because they’re so good! Continue Reading →
Our deep fried oysters, cajun fries and cod nuggets came all together on a basket. The cod bites are some serious yummy stuff! Crispy and surprisingly light, I could’ve eaten a hundred of them. Myself and my dining partner loved them. The shrimps were more like prawns, huge little beasts. So delicious. Continue Reading →
I started with the cod nuggets, and when I think of nuggets I think of deep fried mushed meat, but these nuggets were actual fish pieces, which were pretty delicious with cajun mayo. The deep fried oysters were yummy as well. They were warm and had really crispy batter; really juicy inside. I liked these a lot. I think the Vaneats packages actually gives you the best value to try and experience this style of seafood. Continue Reading →
The fish was very moist yet flaky, and the batter was seasoned nicely. It worked well in both the tartar sauce or the spicy aioli. The Deep Fried Oysters were just as yum! They were the bigger oysters that were meant for cooking (vs. raw oysters), and they were plump and juicy. There was barely any batter so you can taste the actual flavours of the oysters. The seafood comes in the traditional plastic bag. It was very fragrant! As soon as you open the bag, you can smell the garlic. Then, in addition to the cajun seasoning, you can taste a hint of zesty lemon in the sauce. Continue Reading →
The cajun fries were fantastic, nicely salted and spiced with a crispy outside and a potatoey inside despite the fact that they were skinny fries. I was impressed with the cod nuggets as the cod was still moist and the batter was light enough that you could still taste the fish. Dipped in the chipotle aioli it was a nice alternative to being coated in tartar sauce (like most deep fried fish is served) although it was tasty with either of them. Continue Reading →
Cray really is a place you want to experience with someone else. My favorite thing in the basket were the cod nuggets, they were nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy and tender on the inside. Now on to the fun! At Cray you choose your spice level and your seasoning type-Juicy Cajun, Garlic Butter, Lemon Pepper, and Cray Mix, which includes all of the above. The servers are super informative and explained the whole process of eating a Southern Seafood boil. Continue Reading →
I’m glad that such an experience is available here in Vancouver now. The shrimp was pretty big and very juicy. Once you peel the shrimp, it’s best to dip it into the sauce inside the bag. We ordered the Cray mix, which is a mixture of Garlic Butter, Cajun and Lemon. Amazingly tasty. I also ordered Fish and Chips additionally and when it came i was like…THAT FISH CRAY. All in all, this was a great experience. Continue Reading →
Cray Kitchen offers four sauces (juicy cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper, and cray mix) in four levels of spiciness. We opted for the cray mix, which is a blend of all three sauces in "spicy", which I really enjoyed. The corn was delightful and was delicious with the spicy and garlicky sauce. The experience here was definitely unique and I've never had something quite like this in Vancouver. Continue Reading →
Hot on the heels of the Crawfish and Shrimp were the Cod Nuggets, Frieds Oysters and Fries. The cod was surprisingly good, given then size of each nugget, I was expecting it to be dry and maybe slightly overcooked. Fortunately for us, these were great, and the breading was nice and light too. The two oysters were a real treat as well, with a juiciness that I again didn't expect. Perhaps because I enjoy sashimi and raw oysters so much, I always think cooking/frying them to be a waste. But I am now realizing that when done right, a light batter and a quick fry can be a good thing for fish and shellfish! Continue Reading →
When I began with my first crawfish, from the first bite, I realized this had to be the most adventurous and delicious meal I’ve ever had! My meal was also accompanied with crispy and savoury cod nuggets and Cajun fries with just enough of a spicy kick. Every bite was as good as its last. Plus, I ordered mine with the spicy Cray Mix seasoning, which was Juicy Cajun, Garlic Butter and Lemon Pepper seasonings all mixed together. Continue Reading →
Both the deep fried oysters and cod nuggets were quite juicy, as the batter helps seal in the moisture from its natural juices. These bite-sized goodies and the cajun fries were served with three different types of dipping sauces. I could seriously eat these cod nuggets all day. If you’ve never tried crawfish before, now is your chance. What’s great about this dining pass is that it offers a range of different seafood from their extensive menu, without robbing your wallet. The cod nuggets were my favourite item in the basket. The pieces of cod were flakey and moist. The batter on the nuggets wasn’t like your average heavy fish and chips batter because it was much more thin and crisp. The Cajun fries were coated in a Cajun powder that packed some heat. I enjoyed these spicy fries and when dipped in the three different sauces they were great. Continue Reading →
The first thing I noticed was that 1 pound of shrimp and crawfish is a lot more food than I expected and I was suddenly re-thinking my decision to add an order of calamari and an order of yam fries. Oops. Emily said the crawfish were cooked to perfection. I thought the shrimp just popped in my mouth. We both thought the sauce was addicting. Continue Reading →
Cray Kitchen & Bar is one of VERY few places in Vancouver doing Louisiana style Seafood. Never had Louisiana style before? You’re missing out on a truly unique dining experience. Now to the main event, the steaming bag full of shellfish!! When you get to Cray they cover your table with paper and bring you a bucket with a roll of paper towel, plastic gloves and a stylish plastic bib. Trust me, you need all of them. The shrimp and crawfish are whole, shell on, heads and legs on so you have to do a little work to get the meat out. The shrimp are fairly easy to disassemble and when you take the head off make sure you suck the juice out, it’s delicious! Continue Reading →
